Coach Robert Smith and his staff did a great job with the Eagle 6-Man football team leading the team to new heights and records never before reached by an Eagle football team in the school’s history. A summary of the football season is included in this news release. Assistant coaches Jerry Reeves, Leo Monsegue, Kevin Roman, Jordan Byrd and Earnest Byrd did an exceptional job with Coach Smith to develop and improve the Eagle team throughout the season. The Team won the Independent League with an undefeated record of 5-0. As the team entered the post season playoffs, they won the Semi – Final game and lost to Emery Weiner in the Championship game to finish as Runner up overall. Post season honors for individual players will be announced next week. This was a special team that accomplished a lot for CLCS. A really positive activity instituted by Coach Smith and Pastor Reeves was a weekly chapel for the football team accompanied by a team meal each week throughout the season. Visible changes in many players work habits, school habits and spiritual growth took place. Congratulations to Coach Smith, all his assistants and all the Eagle players.

The Fall Sports teams just completed their season over the past weekend. Athletics is off to a great start with the success of CLCS 6-Man Football and CLCS Girls Volleyball. Both advanced to Post season play after finishing in the top echelon of each respective district.
Coach Mike Ritthaler did an excellent coaching job with the Volleyball team that was low in numbers and a little shorter in stature than most years at CLCS. Coach Ritt stressed fundamentals and drilled the girls until they became very competitive. The girls showed vast improvement throughout the season and especially late in the season when they advanced in the playoffs by winning a 4-team tie for the 4th district playoff position. Hannah Stanley was selected All District 1st team and Haley Sheldon was selected 2nd team All District. Congratulations to all the girls on the team and to the two representatives who earned post season honors. Coach Ritthaler was assisted by Coach Kirsten Thornton who also coached the Junior High Girls Volleyball team to a winning season. Volleyball completed a very successful season in 2009.
